Clio Developer Documentation Hub
More than 150,000 legal professionals use Clio to run their legal practices. They come in all sizes, specializing in every field of law, and each has unique needs. Clio solves many of their biggest problems out of the box—but every legal practice is different.
That's where you come in. You may have an existing legal tech business and want to integrate with Clio to supercharge your customers' workflows. You might have an idea for the next great app to solve the problems of law firms and their customers. You might even work at a firm looking to customize its workflows by working with Clio data directly. No matter the circumstance, Clio's API offers you the ability to power workflows, build integrations, and drive innovation in the legal space.
Getting Started
To start building on Clio's API, you can sign up for a trial account to test Clio's workflows and access the API for seven days. After that, if you're interested in continuing to build, you can apply to convert your trial account to a free developer account.
If you are looking to build a private app for use by a single Clio account rather than a public app listed in our App Directory, you can review our page on private apps.
Build
Once you have a trial account, you can start building your integration. Use the following resources to get started:
- Our API Docs cover necessary topics on how to use the Clio API.
- We maintain guides that go in-depth on specific topics, such as Add to Clio and Single Sign-on with Clio Identity.
- Our API reference document contains an exhaustive list of endpoints, data, and actions you can use with the API.
Launch
Once you've finished building your app or integration, it's time to get it in front of Clio customers. You can review our launch requirements to get an overview of the steps needed to launch in the Clio App Directory.
